Welcome! This is a website that everyone can build together. It's easy!

Wight Association of Reenactors-WAR HomeThis is a featured page

Greetings and welcome to the WAR homepage.

About us:-

WAR (Wight Association of Reenactors) is a group of Reenactors who want to take part in reenactments from various periods. You don't have to do them all but by working together we can lower the running costs of the group and hopefully put on better shows!

Principally membership of WAR means:-

You will get Public Liability Insurance of at least £5 million whenever you take part in a show.

You will get any support we can offer- advice and equipment loan if needed.

We will provide showlists to let you know what's going on during the year.

Insurance:- No restriction on the number or duration of events- anywehere in the UK. Exclusions- no bouncy castles and similar inflatables. Public may take part in Archery but must be one-to-one supervision with spectators kept well behind the archer.

You Must:-

Follow our Health and Safety Risk Assessment- Attachment at bottom of this page.

AND:-

Be a paid up member of a society in WAR.

AND:-

Be fully paid up on annual subscription of £10 PA

OR:-

Pay for temporary membership £3 per day (in advance).

Combatants must be ratified in weapons of choice and cleared for battlefield by a recognised (WAR) trainer prior to participation- checks carried out as necessary.

Be responsible for checking your weapons before use (even where there are muster checks).

Treat others in the group and those we meet as reenactors as you would wish to be treated.

Avoid modern anachronisms when possible- e.g. drinking from cans, smoking cigarettes, using mobile phones whilst taking part in shows.

Benefits of joining WAR:-

You will be insured for any re-enactment event for the whole season.

Running costs for each group are reduced.

Members are given documentation evidence of insurance.

This is basically a way of reducing insurance costs for all groups involved.
Groups with more shows pay a larger premium, groups with smaller numbers of shows pay less

e.g.

CSH would pay £50 for a one week show.
MSS would pay £50 for occasional use.
WP would pay £100 for a season of several shows.
WG would pay £200 for unlimited use throughout the year.

If there is a surplus:-
Each year the first £100 would be kept as a saving fund in case of future shortfalls...
Any extra surplus would be applied as discount to the following years insurance or used to advertise all the groups involved
